On April 26th, the Westfield Area Y’s Preschool and Kindergarten classrooms at the Robert & Virginia Bauer Branch in Westfield transformed into a breathtaking art gallery.
The children of both programs proudly ushered family and friends into the popular annual Art Show event. Multiple examples of art from each of the students were displayed, complete with accompanying “Artist Biographies.” The students, who range from age 2-6, were the stars of the evening, posed for photos next to their art pieces and explained their creative process. In one room, a magical underwater scene was created with beautiful fish suspended from the ceiling. The main Exhibit Hall featured a huge cardboard city created from recycled material, abstract sculptures, didgeridoos (trumpets of the Australian aborigines), gorgeous paintings, photography and a host of imaginative projects from these exceptional artists. The output from the preschool’s enrichment program was also impressive with everything from textured pizzas contributed by the Cooking students to mini herb gardens from the Green Thumbs enrichment class.
