WESTFIELD, NJ — The Westfield Area Y will host its 5th annual Zumba Fest on Sunday, Jan. 26, from 3 p.m. 5 p.m. to benefit the Y’s Strong Kids Campaign, which ensures that no one who lives or works in Westfield, Cranford, Garwood or Mountainside and is experiencing a bona fide financial hardship is turned away for the inability to pay.

“It is a labor of love for all of us who raise money knowing that a child has a safe place to be while the parents are working or a fun and exciting camp for the summer,” said Anna Daniels, chairperson for the community committee for the Strong Kids Campaign. “The special place in my heart is for anyone on a fixed income who needs the arthritis program, or Project Healthy Bones (osteoporosis) and Parkinson's program—these are the people who could very easily become house-bound but instead they come out two to three times a week and benefit from it tremendously.”

Zumba Fest, led by the Y’s Zumba instructors, will feature two hours of “shaking and grooving, not to mention all of the calories we burn,” said Daniels. “It's high-energy, great music and just fun. In the past we have had as many as 65 people sign up.”
