We have a day for giving thanks. We have two days, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, for getting great shopping deals. And now the Westfield Area Y is dedicated to celebrating the holiday giving season by participating in “GivingTuesday.”
On Giving Tuesday, December 2nd, charities, families, businesses, community centers and students from around the world will come together with one common purpose, to celebrate giving and kick off the holiday giving season.
Giving begins with the Y’s Annual Angel Tree on Tuesday, December 2nd. Caring members of the community can select an angel off the tree to spread holiday cheer and help someone in need this season.
“Our members' annual acts of kindness are truly making a difference and touching the lives of local children within our community,” states Janice A. Carthens, Westfield Area Y Senior Director Member Services & Quality Assurance. Each angel on the tree represents a Christmas wish from a person in need within our community. In the past, over 175 wrapped gifts were collected and distributed. Financial contributions are also welcome to help send a child to camp or child care in 2015. All gifts encourage youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
