On Saturday and Sunday, June 9 and 10, the Westfield Area Y Flyers competed in the USATF Junior Olympic State Championships held at Hub Stine Stadium in Plainfield, NJ. Three athletes were state champions in their respective events. The top six athletes from each event earned a spot to compete at the USATF Region 2 Olympic Championship to be held July 12-15 in Ewing, NJ. Below are the 19 athletes that had top six finishes:


Girls 8 and Under Division:

Jasmine Parran -  3rd in 1500m Run and 4th in 800m Run

Boys 8 and Under Division:

Jackson Folvik - 1st in Javelin

Millen Dhimen - 2nd in Javelin and Shot Put


Girls 9-10 Division:

Madeline Bonn - 1st in High Jump

Grace Gloster - 4th in 200m Run


Boys 9-10 Division:

Lucas Costa - 3rd in Javelin and 4th in High Jump


Girls 11-12 Division:

Elizabeth Koizumi - 1st in 1500m Race Walk

Emma Muir - 3rd in Javelin


Boys 11-12 Division:

Gabriel Costa - 6th in High Jump


Girls 13-14 Division:

Alexandra Bonn - 2nd in Triple Jump, 5th in 100m Hurdles, 4th in 200m Hurdles

Emma Howlett - 4th in Discus and 4th in Shot Put

Emily Martinez, Abigail Granrath, Julia Skultety, Claire Flagg - 5th in 4X100m Relay


Boys 13-14 Division:

Damien Scouloukas - 6th in 100m Hurdles

Bryan Tucker - 2nd in Javelin

Caudell Cajuste, Damian Skouloukas, Gyrord Gregoire,  Bryan Tucker - 5th in 4x100m Relay
