The Westfield Area YMCA invites teens in grades 6-12 to grab their friends and join them for some thrills and chills at Six Flags Great Adventure’s Fright Fest on Friday, Sept. 30,when the park transforms into a “scream park” with Halloween themed shows and attractions in addition to its world-class thrill rides. The bus departs at 4 p.m. from both Roosevelt and Edison Schools and will return to the Main Y Facility, 220 Clark Street in Westfield by Midnight. Rain date is Oct. 7.
A Westfield Area YMCA membership is not required. The trip includes round trip transportation, chaperones and admission. Registration and payment is required by Sept. 20. No outside food or drinks are allowed into the park. Participants can bring money for food and games. Registration forms can be found online at www.westfieldynj.org. Completed forms along with payment (discounted fees for those who have a season pass) can be dropped off at the Welcome Center at the Main Y Facility or in the main offices of Roosevelt and Edison Middle Schools in Westfield.
The Y provides affordable structured and supervised activities such as trips, sports classes and leagues, fitness classes, swim team, Leaders Club, Debate Team, Achievers, Friday Night Teen Nights, dances and more. These activities give teens opportunities to increase their level of responsibility and independence and build self-esteem, important building blocks in their healthy development.
