WESTFIELD, NJ — After spending the indoor track season recovering from injuries, Westfield High School senior Natalie Marcotullio won the 800 meter race with a time of 2:23.8 during Tuesday’s meet at Linden, and she anchored the winning 4 x 400 relay.

“Her time of 2:23.8 is pretty close to her personal best,” said Jennifer Buccino, head girls track and field coach. “Running so fast so early in the season, and a few days before we are about to make a final attempt to qualify for the Penn Relays, is a great way to kick off the spring. Her performance in both the open 800 and the relay contributed points to the team score, as well.”

A captain for the cross country and winter track seasons, Marcotullio is a leader by example, according to Buccino.

“And she is a great team player, as she was there to support everyone all winter even when she was unable to do what she loves so much,” Buccino said. “I think this is just the beginning and, now that she is healthy, the sky is the limit for her — not only here for our team, but also for her future when she continues her running career at William and Mary.”
