WESTFIELD/CLARK, NJ – The Westfield Avenue railroad crossing will close for construction on Monday, May 8 until about Friday, May 12, Town Administrator Jim Gildea said during Tuesday night's town council conference meeting.

"There will be significant detouring both in Clark and Westfield to get around that one section,” Gildea said. “But the nice thing is, if you've driven over that train line you know it's in very bad shape and I'm glad the DOT [Department of Transportation] has finally recognized that and is able to commit now to replacing it. It will be a very nice crossing when it’s finished.”

The road closure is expected to cause heavy delays throughout the area. Drivers are urged to find other routes during construction.
