WESTFIELD, NJ – The board of education discussed possibly funding and hiring an alumni coordinator during their workshop session this week.
“The amount of money in tapping Westfield alumni is out there,” said board member Mitchell Slater.
Board Vice President Gretchan Ohlig brought up the possibility of a fundraising model for financial development via a Westfield High School Alumni Foundation. Members also talked about getting an employee to reach out to alumni as well as track WHS graduates’ success. Similar systems are already in place in other districts, such as Summit, they mentioned.
Other possible board goals discussed were teaching stress management, integrating technology and mandatory community service for the high school.
A presentation on the full list of the 2015-2016 school year’s district goals will be given at a later regular board of education meeting.
