WESTFIELD, NJ — (Updated at 8:25 p.m.) Graduating seniors at Westfield High School were celebrated Tuesday night with a special “Senior Tribute Video,” the school district announced.
Although a “virtual graduation” had initially been planned for the evening, the high school changed up the programming when it set an in-person graduation ceremony for July 8, something state regulations amid COVID-19 now allow, the announcement said.
The recorded event premiered on YouTube at 7 p.m. See below for the video:
It’s not only Westfield High School seniors who were honored on Tuesday night.
The Parent Teacher Student Organization planned the “Great Front Lawn Cap Toss + Clap Out” for 8:20 p.m.
Timed to coincide with the high school’s video celebration, it celebrated all moving up milestones across the Westfield Public School District this year, organizers for the PTSO said.
Families were encouraged to “grab a megaphone” and clap loudly, a video promoting the event says.
“Make some noise! We have so much to celebrate,” organizers said.
