The Westfield Community Concert Band, under the direction of Dr. Thomas Connors continues their 98th Season of Summer Concerts in Mindowaskin Park on Thursday, July 8th.

The evening's music will start with a pre-concert selection of music by the band's own Low Brass Choir at 7:00pm. The Westfield Community Concert Band will take the stage at 7:30pm on the gazebo. The band traditionally performs an assortment of original works including orchestral transcriptions, popular works, songs of the American Music Theater, along with Marches from around the world.

The featured soloist for the evening will be Michael Conway, Euphonum, on "Concert Prelude" by Derek Bourgeois. Michael is a Freelance Musician from Roselle, NJ. A graduate of Kean University, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music. Having played with the Westfield Community Band for five years, in addition the Kean University Wind Ensemble and the NJ Workshop for the Arts, Michael enjoys "Concert Prelude" as it brings him new challenges as a Euphonium player.

Additional selections for the evening include "Celebration Fanfare" by Steven Reineke, "March Slave" by P. Tschaikowsky and "The Seafarers" arranged by Michael McDermott.

The Westfield Community Band will continue their season on Thursday, July 15th, followed by the Westfield Community Swing Band "Nostalgia" on July 22nd.

The concert will be held in Mindowaskin Park, located next to the Westfield Municipal Building at 425 East Broad St. in Westfield. The event is free to the public; audience members are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held in the Westfield Community Room in the Westfield Municipal Building.
