Kicking the holiday season into high gear, the Westfield Community Band and the Edison Intermediate School Broadway Singers will present the 21st Annual Holiday Concert on Wednesday, December 14 at 7:30pm.  This concert is a town wide holiday celebration, sponsored by the Westfield Recreation Department.

The Westfield Community Band, under the direction of Dr. Thomas Connors will perform a variety of selections from traditional favorites such as Leroy Anderson’s, “Sleigh Ride”, contemporary selections such as the Overture from “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” by Albert Hague, and “Rhapsody for Hanukkah” arranged by Stephen Bulla which is a collection of traditional Hanukkah melodies.

Additional selections include “March of the Toys and Toyland from ‘Babyes in Toyland’” by Victor Herbert, “A Christmas Festival” by Leroy Anderson and “Once in Royal David’s City” by Henry Gauntlett.

The band will be joined in concert by the Edison Intermediate School Broadway Singers with Co-Directors Kristine Smith-Morasso and Kenneth Horn.   An extra-curricular singing group comprised of select seventh and eighth grade students that tour outside of the school district.  The Broadway Singers will perform an array of holiday favorites and will join the Westfield Community Band in presenting a finale of the “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah. 

Pre-show entertainment will begin at 7:10pm, with holiday music provided by “Sax Forte” with members of the Westfield Community Band.
