The Westfield Community Concert Band, under the direction of Dr. Thomas Connors, concludes their 98th Season of Summer Concerts in Mindowaskin Park on Thursday, July 15th.

The evening's music will start with a pre-concert selection of music by the band's own Sax Forte Quartet at 7:00pm. The Westfield Community Band will take the stage at 7:30pm.

A highlight for the evening will include the passing of the baton to guest conductor Ken Reed, who will direct the band in Meredith Wilson's "The Music Man". Ken is a member of the band's saxophone section and is a member and arranger for the "Sax Forte" saxophone quartet. Having been with the and for seven years, Ken is a retired band director and works as a composer, arranger and band adjudicator amongst other musical pursuits.

Additional works to be performed that evening include "Poet & Peasant Overture" by Henry Fillmore; "Music for a Festival" by Philip Sparke, and "National Emblem March" by Edwin Bagley.

The Westfield Community Band will resume rehearsals for their 99th Concert season in the fall. Area musicians are encouraged to contact the band about open positions.

The concert on July 15th will be held in Mindowaskin Park, located next to the Westfield Municipal Building at 425 East Broad St. in Westfield. The event is free to the public; audience members are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held in the Westfield Community Room in the Westfield Municipal Building.
