WESTFIELD, NJ — Local theater group the Westfield Community Players recently earned two 2013 Perry Awards nominations for its spring production of “Proof.” The awards are given by the New Jersey Association of Community Theaters.
Steve Lemenille is nominated for “Outstanding Direction of a Play” and John Correll is nominated for “Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play” for his portrayal of “Robert.”
The Westfield Community Players will be up against other New Jersey community theater groups including the Hackensack Theatre Company and the Circle Players of Piscataway.
“We involved in community theater do it for the love of theater and for our audiences,” said Lemenille. “But being nominated by our own peers only encourages us to continue our passion for theater."
The Westfield Community Players have several productions planned for the upcoming 2013-2014 season: “Barefoot in the Park,” “Regrets Only,” “Butterflies Are Free” and “A Streetcar Named Desire.” For ticket and membership information, visit www.westfieldcommunityplayers.org.
