WESTFIELD, NJ — Decisions for reopening the town will rest in the hands of a 16-member task force comprised of municipal officials and business leaders.

Mayor Shelley Brindle on Wednesday announced the formation of the commission to determine best steps in support of public health and meeting the needs of the business community as the town is allowed to gradually reopen.

“I am grateful to each of these individuals for their willingness to lend their time, perspective and expertise to one of our most critical efforts as we slowly transition into a post-COVID landscape for businesses and consumers alike,” Brindle said in her COVID-19 update. “I will keep you apprised of our plans as they continue to develop, knowing that we all have a role to play over the long term to maintain public health while positioning our local business environment for success.”
