Westfield, NJ — Westfield Day Care Center staff, parents and alumni celebrated the organization’s 50th anniversary at The Westwood in Garwood.

The evening was a jovial event which also included over 80+ tricky tray and auction items that came as donations from many local Westfield businesses.  The guests congregated around the items while enjoying cocktails and hors d'oeuvres and Westfield Day Care Center’s Board of Trustee, Vice President, Vanessa Oligino launched the evening with a toast followed by a few words of appreciation from Director, Thera Rocco.  “I’m honored to be part of the Westfield Day Care Center family and community for almost 20 years,” Thera continued, “I believe the commitment and compassion of the staff are the main reasons for our success.  I truly love my job.”

Established in 1968, the Westfield Day Care Center, a non-profit, NAEYC accredited learning center, has been following its mission to provide high-quality, affordable child care to all children in the greater Westfield area. The center’s dedicated teachers, with an average of 10 years of experience, are committed to the care, safety, and well-being of young children.  The early childhood education program begins at 18 months through to full-day kindergarten and includes childcare from the hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. with an option for extended care until 6:30 p.m.

Tuition includes morning and afternoon snacks, a healthy hot lunch program made on premise, and also offers enrichment programs such as Music, Little Gym, Stretch and Grow, and Spanish language lessons.  Westfield Day Care Center has 950 sq. ft. of indoor play space and an outdoor playground that overlooks the picturesque Mindowaskin Park.  Its proximity to town gives children opportunities to explore their community.

The anniversary event concluded with a gracious thank you to all guests by Westfield Day Care Center’s Board of Trustee, President, Anthony Cingire. The anniversary celebration raised over $10,000 in proceeds which will be used to support children’s programs and scholarships which help families in need of financial assistance.

A special thank you was extended to the 50th Anniversary committee members which included, co-chairs, Clarissa Dobek and Courtney Maricic and several passionate volunteers who without them, the evening would not have been as successful as it was.
