April 1, 2014 at 11:23 PM

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Westfield shortstop Matt Storcks knocked in seven runs as the Blue Devils spoiled the Raiders' varsity baseball home opener, 9-6, Tuesday afternoon.

Storcks hit a grand slam in the third inning, a two-run triple in the fourth, and a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the fifth to account for most of Westfield's offense.

SPF's Matt Ridge opened the scoring with an RBI double in the first, and the score remained 1-0 until Westfield touched up starter Chris Gibbons for five runs in the third. The Raiders chipped away and brought the score to 7-6 at the end of the fourth, before the Blue Devils padded their lead with two more runs in the fifth.
