WESTFIELD, NJ —The Kiwanis Club of Greater Westfield will host Westfield’s 83rd annual Westfield Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 31, at 1 p.m. in Mindowaskin Park.

The Westfield Lions Club, which historically organized the hunt, was unable to take on the responsibility this year due to lack of manpower, according to Kiwanis Club of Greater Westfield President J.M. Jones. They reached out to the Kiwanis Club, which had helped the Lions revive the hunt last spring after a one-year hiatus, to ask if it could take over the event completely.

“We wanted to continue the tradition that goes back since 1936 and we didn’t want to see it go away,” Jones said.

The Easter Egg Hunt will be similar to previous years when the Lions Club organized it, according to Jones, including having an Easter Bunny. The Kiwanis Club high school chapter, also called the Key Club, is exploring some other possible activities to include for the kids, such as face painting, he said.

The event is recommended for children ages 7 and younger.
