The Westfield Education Association announced its awards scholarships for the class or 2017.

This year’s WEA scholarships will be awarded to Sara Gargiulo and Hayley Kasko. In the fall, Gargiulo will be attending the College of Charleston and Kasko will attend Villanova.  Scholarships are based on academic achievement, school activities, and community service.

The Barry Judd Memorial Scholarship is given in the memory of Barry Judd, who was a well-respected World Language Teacher at Westfield High School from 1974-1992. Judd’s teaching career embodied a love for learning and a devotion to helping others. The award is granted to a WEA member’s son or daughter who will be attending college in the fall. This year’s recipient for the Class of 2017 is Paige Venturino.  Her mother, Coral Venturino, is a fifth grade teacher at Wilson Elementary School.

The awards were presented to the students on May 24 at Westfield High School.  Funds for these scholarships are raised through the generous donations of the Westfield Education Association.
