WESTFIELD, NJ — No one was injured Friday afternoon when Westfield firefighters responded to a report of heavy smoke pouring out of a van at 122 East Broad St. in Downtown Westfield, in front of Cosimo’s.

The empty parked van belonged to a contractor working nearby, according to Deputy Chief Anthony Tiller. Around 2:30 p.m., firefighters arrived on the scene, opened the vehicle and put out the blaze.

“It was extinguished very quickly,” Tiller said.
