WESTFIELD, NJ — About 25 people chipped in to give Thanksgiving meals to on-duty members of the Westfield Police Department, Westfield Fire Department and Westfield Volunteer Rescue Squad Thursday.
Organizer Rory Chadwick collected donations and, chipping in as well, bought and delivered about $400 worth of hams, turkeys and other holiday foods and supplies for the first responders.
“I just wanted to make sure those who look after us are looked after, as well,” Chadwick said. “They were all very gracious and accepting.”
Others pitched in, too, including Morano Gelato owner Maurice Dayan, who stopped by with gelato for the first responders.
Chadwick plans to organize a similar effort on Christmas. Anyone who would like to get involved can email him at email@example.com.
