NEWARK, NJ – Westfield High School’s state championship-winning football team was among the 50 high school athletic programs recognized for their accomplishments for the fall season by the New Jersey Devils during Tuesday night’s game.

During the first period intermission of last night’s Devils’ 3-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings at the Prudential Center, the Blue Devils were one of several teams were featured on the center ice Jumbotron.

The Devils provided each of the teams with tickets to the game in the lower level.

“The players had a great time,” head coach Jim DeSarno said. “It’s great to see them enjoying the experience.”

Westfield defeated Bridgewater-Raritan two years in a row to win the North 2 Group 5 title. The team holds the current state-best win streak at 25.
