WESTFIELD, NJ — Two Westfield High School senior football players, linebackers Shea Elliott and Drew Ortiz, were honored along with Blue Devils Defensive Coordinator Ken Miller at the Super 100 Banquet recently.
Sponsored by the State Coaches Association, the Super 100 is composed of the top 25 football players from each section in the state (North 1, North 2, Central and South). Past Westfield award winners include Owen Kessler, Jack Shirk, Jack Curry, Jack Simcox, James O’Rourke and Joe Scaglione.
Miller was honored as one of the top assistant coaches in the state.
Elliott and Ortiz finished their Westfield High School Football careers having never lost a game, going 37-0 and winning three state championships in the process.
“I’m very excited for Kenny and our whole defensive coaching staff in receiving this honor,” head coach Jim DeSarno said. “Kenny bleeds Westfield Blue and he’s done tremendous things with our defense. Shea and Drew are two of the best linebackers in the state and it’s great that they were recognized.”
Elliott also received the Ray Bailey Scholarship Award for earning the highest grade point average on the team.
