WESTFIELD, NJ — The Westfield High School girls varsity soccer team has been seeded No. 1 in the upcoming Union County Tournament.

“We are excited that we are number one,” head coach Alex Schmidt said. “The girls have worked hard to put themselves in the best position for the UCT tournament. However, we are also very cognizant of the fact that the number one seed doesn't automatically give you the county title and will continue to get better each day physically, technically, tactically and mentally.”

Rival Scotch Plains-Fanwood has been seeded No. 2. Union is No. 3 and Cranford is No. 4.

The WHS boys team is also seeded No. 1.
