FORT MEYERS, FL — Team New Jersey took home the gold this past weekend at the 2015 Senior National competition in Florida. The team consisted of six outstanding New Jersey gymnasts: Nicole Sottiriou of South Plainfield, Jenna Rizkalla of Westfield, Anne Meringolo of Watchung, Jessica Villorosi of Hunterdon Central, Hannah Goldring of Westfield and Maggie Mcgrorry of Ocean Township.
Sottiriou took home the all-around title as well as the beam title and finished second on the vault and sixth on bars. Rizkalla took home the vault title, finished second in the all-around as well as a sixth place bar finish. Meringolo qualified for three events. However, due to an injury, she could only compete on bars where she finished in second place.
Villorosi finished seventh overall with a sixth place vault finish and 13th on floor. Goldring finished 27th all around with an eighth place floor finish. Mcgrorry finished 39th with a 6th place floor finish and a 11th place beam finish.

According to the coaches, the true outstanding moment was waiting for the final team tally between Massachusetts and New Jersey. Team NJ won by a razor-thin .525 tenths of a margin.
“They had worked so hard and earned that title, but watching these girls compete against one another all season long and then coming together to be a powerhouse team was a truly special moment to be a part of,” Coach Meredith Garofalo said. “When they called Team New Jersey the girls just went nuts.”
Team New Jersey was coached by lead coach Cindy Wagner coach of Somerville along with coaches Colleen Sutphen of Holmdel, Brianna Ferdinandi of A.L Johnson and Meredith Garofalo of South Plainfield.
The coaching staff had one last comment for their championship girls: “Congratulations Team NJ. You all did a great job.”
