WESTFIELD, NJ — Two Westfield High School senior football players, Jeff Gagum and Max Schwetje, have been chosen to participate in this summer’s 2017 Snapple Bowl. The all-star game pits teams from Middlesex and Union Counties against one another for a chance to play the game they love before college.
“I’m very excited that Jeff and Max were selected to play in the Snapple Bowl,” Westfield head football coach Jim DeSarno said.
Gagum will play defensive line.
“Jeff — who’s waiting to hear from a few division III schools — has had an amazing career for us here and I look forward to seeing him show the rest of the county what type of player he is,” Desarno said. “This will be a great way for him to finish off his high school career as he makes his way to college.”
Schwetje will play tackle.
“Max will be attending and playing at Dickinson College in the fall,” DeSarno said. “I’m very excited for Max. He had two great years as a starter on the O-line for us. He’ll get the opportunity to play with some good linemen from Union County and against real good players from Middlesex. This will be his stepping stone to college football.”
Snapple Bowl XXIV will be held July 20 at 7 p.m. at Kean University.
