WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield High School senior Steve Barmakian is one of six students to receive a scholarship from Zoned Sports Academy in Bridgewater, the academy has announced.
Barmakian will play Division I baseball at George Washington University in the fall.
Zoned's 10th Annual Baseball/Softball Scholar-Athlete Scholarship Awards splits $10,000 between six student athletes in recognition of their athletic accomplishments, educational success and work within their communities.
“These scholarships recognize athletes who have succeeded in far more than baseball and softball,” Duke Baxter, owner of Zoned, said. “They recognize each of these athletes as well-rounded individuals, whose accomplishments reach well beyond the diamonds they play on. They are true champions in their schools, homes and communities. These scholarships provide a way for us at Zoned to recognize and give back to these young role models, as well as for those who will follow in their footsteps in years to come.”
Also receiving scholarships this year are Bruno Diaz of Bound Brook High School; Katie Marino of Pingry High School; Christian Scafidi of Highland Regional High School; Annalise Suitovsky of Watchung Hills Regional High School; and Bridgewater-Raritan High School senior Alex Thul.
