Westfield’s school-level 2017 National Geographic Bee champions are 7th grader Dylan Ferraro (wearing the first place medal), pictured here with Roosevelt Intermediate School Principal Stewart Carey, and eighth grader Max Scialabba, being congratulated by Edison Intermediate School Principal Matthew Bolton.

After earning the top spots at their respective schools in early January, the students are taking a written Geo Bee exam to determine if they will advance to the State Geography Bee in April.

“We wish Dylan and Max the best of luck as they await these results,” stated Westfield Social Studies Supervisor K-12, Andrea Brennan. Runners up in the Geo Bee contest were Edison 7th grader Fiona Strout, who placed second, and 6th grader Ryan Gasson, who earned third place.

At Roosevelt, second place was won by 6th grader Zach Ashare and 8th grader Justin Shen came in third.
