WESTFIELD, NJ — It’s been a Westfield tradition for eight decades, but this year there will be no Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt in Mindowaskin Park.

A recording on the Lions Club of Westfied's voicemail states, “If this in reference to the Lions Club Easter egg hunt, unfortunately we had to cancel it this year; but we hope to be back next year.”

No further information is given. The Lions Club has not yet returned calls for comments.

For the past 80 years the hunt was a free event that delighted children and their families. Hundreds usually arrived to scramble for plastic eggs, enjoy free candy and sit for free photos with the Easter Bunny.
