WESTFIELD, NJ — Families once again enjoyed the annual Westfield Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt in Mindowaskin Park Saturday after a one-year hiatus, thanks to additional volunteers from the Westfield Kiwanis Club and the Friends of Mindowaskin Park.

Kids ages seven and younger made a mad dash for about 600 empty plastic eggs, and were rewarded at the end with free candy from the Lions Club. Afterward, families got a chance to take free photos with the Easter Bunny.

“It was very well run. The kids had a blast,” Westfield dad Robert Gordon said.

Westfield mom April Stec agreed.

“It was very well organized. The event staff was super-friendly and reminded the children to share with other children that we not quick enough,” she said. “It was refreshing to see the children assisting one another instead of trampling over one another. We lingered around afterward to enjoy the gorgeous day in Mindowaskin with old and new friends."

The event was free and voluntary donations to the Lions Club will go to sight preservation and blindness prevention.
