The Westfield Memorial Library is pleased to present Gamelan Kusuma Laras, a Javanese percussion orchestra, on Saturday, November 8 at 2:00 p.m. The library is located at 550 East Broad Street.
The orchestra will present an hour of the music of Central Java. The presentation will feature live music as well as video. Audience members will learn about how gamelan music fits into Javanese life, including music's role in the all-night shadow play and masked dance.
This program is free and open to Westfield Memorial Library and MURAL cardholders. (MURAL cardholders belong to libraries that are part of the Middlesex Union Reciprocal Agreement Libraries.
