WESTFIELD, NJ — The children’s area at Westfield Memorial Library has colorful new furniture courtesy of the Friends of Westfield Memorial Library and a new interactive play wall for toddlers thanks to a donation by David and Sheryl Machlowitz. (David Machlowitz is a former president of the Friends.)
The play wall helps complete the section's transformation into a brighter and more kid-friendly area, according to Molly Adams, youth services coordinator for the library. Made of solid birch wood panels, it is designed to capture attention while teaching fine motor, sensory and tactile skills, she explained.
“It is geared towards toddlers and features a variety of tactile elements,” Adams said. “Combined with the puzzles and stuffed animals we have for younger patrons and the Krayon Kiosk, which features iPads with pre-loaded educational games for a range of ages, we think the play wall makes our Youth Services area even more welcoming for children and their caregivers.”
The library is located at 550 East Broad St. Learn more at www.wmlnj.org.
