WESTFIELD, NJ — Membership to Westfield Memorial Pool will cost $20 more per family this year, for both residents and non-residents, after the town council passed a resolution approving the rate increase at Tuesday night’s meeting. Individual rates will increase by $5. Senior citizen rates were not increased.
“The pool rates have not been increased since 2011,” Town Administrator Jim Gildea noted during the council conference session Tuesday.
The recreation commission requested the higher rates due to anticipated increases in the cost of running the pool, including paying higher minimum wage, he said.
Members do not have to be residents of Westfield, and less than nine percent of the about 9,700 members live out of town, according to Gildea.
The cost for day passes and guest passes was not changed, but the recreation commission is discussing adjusting those fees, Gildea said.
