WESTFIELD, NJ — The Westfield Parent Teacher Council (PTC), an umbrella organization for all 10 of the Westfield public school PTOs, will hold its first meeting of the year on Thursday, Sept. 18. The meetings are public and open to all Westfield residents.
“Attending PTC meetings allows one to learn more about the details of our school district from funding to curriculum to activities,” said Westfield PTC President Ruth Maloney. “It is a wonderful opportunity to ask questions of our superintendent and BOE members, participate in special interest committees if one wishes and garner support from fellow parents and taxpayers.”
General meetings are held once a month. The purpose of these meetings is:
- To maintain open lines of communication between the BOE, administration the PTOs and community
- To provide a forum for coordinated efforts and sharing amongst the PTOs
- To address community concerns as they arise
- To work together to promote the best advantages for Westfield students
Additionally, the PTO presidents meet with the PTC board, Superintendent Magaret Dolan and a Westfield Board of Education representative once a month.
The meeting Sept. 18 will take place at 9:15 a.m. in the BOE board room at 302 Elm St. For more information, contact Maloney at email@example.com.
