WESTFIELD, NJ — Monday's Westfield Planning Board meeting was the first for new member Mike Ash, who was recently appointed to fill a vacancy left by Tom Walsh.

At that meeting, Planning Board Chair Robert Newell also announced was it was the last meeting for Vice Chair Frank Smith, who he said is moving out of town after serving on the board for 10 years.

“Thank you for all your service,” Newell said to Smith, who replied, “Thank you. I’ll miss you all.”

Mayor Shelley Brindle is expected to ask for the council’s approval for her choice for Smith’s replacement at the next town council meeting on July 10.
