Westfield Police Blotter: Cops Say Shoplifter Took Nearly $3,000 in Merchandise & More


March 1, 2017 11:26 p.m.

Damar E. Younge, age 34, of Newark, NJ, was arrested on the strength of an outstanding Westfield Municipal Court warrant ($500) pursuant to a prisoner pick-up at the Port Authority Police Department in Weehawken, NJ. Mr. Younge was transported to Westfield Police Department where he was processed and held in lieu of bail.

March 2, 2017 3:30 p.m.

A business in the 100 block of Central Avenue reported being a victim of fraud. An employee stated that on March 2, 2017 between 5:30 a.. And 3:30 p.m., unknown suspect(s) paid for goods with a counterfeit 50 dollar bill.

March 2, 2017 11:18 p.m.

Roody Rozelien, age 25, of Linden, NJ, was arrested on the strength of two outstanding warrants out of Westfield Municipal Court ($1,000) pursuant to a prisoner pick-up at the Linden Police Department. Mr Rozelien was transported to Westfield Police Department where he was processed and released after posting bail.

March 2, 2017 9:15 p.m.

A resident of the 500 block of Forest Avenue reported being a victim of burglary and theft to a residence. Victim stated that between 7:40 a.m. and 9:15 p.m. on March 2, 2017, unknown actor(s) entered the residence and ransacked the bedrooms. At the time of the investigation, the victim was unsure what items were missing from the residence.

March 3, 2017 10:16 p.m.

Officer Popleik and Officer Shaughnessy responded to the Bergen County Jail where they placed Lateef Wise, age 27, of Newark, NJ, under arrest on the strength of an outstanding Westfield Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $654. Subject was transported to Westfield Police Department headquarters where he was processed and placed in a cell awaiting transport to the Union County Jail.

March 4, 2017 2:39 p.m.

Officer Gill arrested Tiesha Taylor, age 26, of Newark, NJ, in the 200 block of E. Broad Street for shoplifting and hindering apprehension. The suspect allegedly took a total of $2,949 in merchandise without paying for it and then lied about her name, date of birth and address. Subject also had a total of $6,508 in warrants out Pequannock, Newark, East Hanover, Wayne and Edison. Subject was turned over to Pequannock Police Department.

March 5, 2017 7:09 a.m.

A resident in the 0-100 block of Hawthorne Drive reported being the victim of a burglary theft. The victim reported that suspect(s) unknown entered her unlocked vehicle, which was in the driveway and removed a purse valued at $2,200.

March 6, 2017 10:31 p.m.

Officers Forcenito and Natale arrested Nicholas Walker, age 21, of Kenilworth, NJ, for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana) under 50 grams pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the 600 block of Mountain Avenue. Subject was transported to headquarters, processed and released on a summons pending a Westfield Municipal Court date.

March 5, 2017 11:59 p.m.

Officers Forcenito and Natale arrested Bobby Stephens, Jr., age 30, of Newark, NJ, on the strength of an outstanding Newark Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $250 and a Budd Lake Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $89 pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of Central Avenue and Pearl Street. Subject was transported to headquarters where he was processed and released after posting full bail.

March 7, 2017 1:11 a.m.

Officers Santangelo and Bagan arrested Davon Smith, age 44, of Westfield, NJ, on the strength of a Union Township Municipal Court warrant pursuant to a motor vehicle stop at 800 Rahway Avenue. Subject was transported to headquarters, processed and released after posting bail.

March 7, 2017 6:57 p.m.

Officers Desiato and Santangelo arrested Mark Anthony, age 48, of Piscataway, N,J for multiple outstanding criminal warrants. The warrants are as follows: Westfield Municipal Court ($1,071), Hazlet Municipal Court ($750), North Brunswick Municipal Court ($958), Dunellen Borough Municipal Court ($500) and West Orange Municipal Court ($250), totaling $3,529. Subject was transported to headquarters, processed and transported to Union County Jail in lieu of bail.
