Westfield Police Blotter: Missing Teen Found, Then Arrested After Physical Altercation with Cops & More


May 2, 2017 2:11 p.m.

Farly Mina, 34 years of age, of Keyport, NJ, was arrested during a motor vehicle stop in the 200 block of W. Fourth Avenue for possession of controlled dangerous substances and possession of drug paraphernalia. Farly was issued a summons and released.

Subsequent to a Detective Bureau Investigation, Tyler Rocha, 19, of Westfield was arrested by Detectives Bruno and Merritt. Rocha was charged with theft by deception, possession and use of a stolen credit card. Rocha was released on a summons pending court.


May 3, 2017 11: 35 a.m.

Debra Simmons, 30, of Plainfield was arrested for contempt of court out of Summit for $322 and Woodbridge for $100. Simmons was released on recognizance by both jurisdictions with a court date.


May 4, 2017 9:51 a.m.

Officers Gill and Domanoski arrested Jose M Cruz, age 33, of Jersey City, NJ, on outstanding warrants from Fanwood Boro and Watchung Boro. Mr. Cruz appeared for court in Westfield at which time officers placed him under arrest. Subject was processed and released after posting the full cash bail.


May 4, 2017 11:53 a.m.

Officers Jaramillo and Ferry arrested Rhonda L. Boston, age 31, of Newark, NJ, on an outstanding traffic warrant issued by North Arlington Municipal Court with bail set at $278, subsequent to a traffic stop. Subject was transported to Westfield Police Department, processed and released after posting the full cash bail.


May 4, 2017 9:11 p.m.

Mary Kiernan, age 38, of Elizabeth, NJ, was arrested on the strength of her outstanding warrant for her arrest from Westfield Municipal Court in the amount of $123. Subject was processed and unable to post bail. Subject was transported to Union County jail.


May 4, 2017 2:03 p.m.

Officers Jaramillo and Ferry arrested Mohamed N Amin, age 19, of Parlin, NJ, for possession of under 50 grams of suspected marijuana subsequent to a motor vehicle stop. Subject was transported to Westfield Police Department, processed and released on a summons.


May 5, 2017 2: 50 p.m.

Westfield Police Department officers responded to the 100 block of Elm Street on May 5 at approximately 2:50 p.m. to investigate the location of a possible missing 17-year-old male. Upon their arrival in the area, they located a subject matching the description of the juvenile reported missing. Officers were speaking with the subject when he became verbally confrontational and ran off. A foot pursuit ensued and officers caught up to the subject at which time the juvenile became physically combative. A physical altercation ensued during which time three officers sustained injury while placing the juvenile under arrest. Subsequent to the arrest it was confirmed the juvenile was reported missing and also had an outstanding shelter warrant. Juvenile was transported to Westfield Police Department, processed, charged with three counts of aggravated assault and committed to Union County Juvenile Detention Facility pending a court date.


May 6, 2017 1:10 p.m.

A business in the 200 block of W. South Avenue reported a shoplifting incident that occurred between 1:10 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. on May 6. The suspect stole approximately $59 worth of baby formula and left the store. A check of the area by responding units yielded negative results.


May 8, 2017 12:13 p.m.

Reports by a victim in the 500 block of St. Marks Avenue filed with regards to a possible theft. Victim reported that suspect(s) unknown took a necklace valued at approximately $5,000.


May 9, 2017 at 1:04 p.m.

Officers Natale and Martinez arrested Hadiyah Barnes, age 19, of Westfield, NJ, for possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of Elm Street and Sinclair Place. Subject was transported to headquarters, processed and released on a summons.


May 9, 2017 2 a.m.

Officers Forcenito and Johnson arrested Abbey Kiggumou, age 26, of South Plainfield, NJ, for possession of marijuana under 50 grams pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of W. Grove Street and Westfield Avenue. Subject was transported to headquarters, processed and released on a summons.


May 9, 2017 3:21 a.m.

Officers Santangelo and Bagan arrested George A. Garavito, age 25, of Piscataway for a traffic warrant out of Westfield Municipal Court ($500) pursuant to a pick up at Roselle Park. Subject was transported to headquarters where it was revealed that he had a traffic warrant out of Edison Municipal Court, a criminal warrant out of Watchung Boro Municipal Court ($500), a criminal warrant out of Somerville Municipal Court ($500), a criminal warrant out of Upper Saddle River Municipal Court ($500) and a traffic warrant out of Upper Saddle River Muncipal Court ($500). The total amount of bail is $2,500. He was placed in Westfield Police Department cell no. one in lieu of posted bail.
