Westfield Police Blotter: Multiple Bicycles Reported Stolen & More


 August 9, 2017 12:08 p.m.

Mr. Kareem Jordan, age 42, of Plainfield, NJ, was arrested at the Middlesex County Courthouse on the strength of one outstanding warrant issued by the Westfield Municipal Court. Mr. Jordan was transported to the Union County Jail in lieu of posting the requisite bail.

A business located in the 200 block of E. South Avenue reports being the victim of a theft. Unknown actor(s) removed $20 from the business.


August 10, 2017 6:29 a.m.

A Westfield resident reported a theft of a bicycle from the South Side Train Station between 5:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. on August 9, 2017. The bicycle is valued at approximately $300.


August 10, 2017 1:10 p.m.

A resident of 800 block of Forest Avenue reported being a victim of theft. Victim stated that on August 9, 2017 between 8:30 a.m. and 7 p.m., unknown suspect(s) stole his bicycle from the train station parking lot. The bicycle was described as black Schwinn mountain bike valued at approximately $200.


August 10, 2017 8:13 p.m.

Madeline Kevelson, age 19, of Westfield, NJ, was arrested for shoplifting from a business located on the 600 block of North Avenue. Subject was arrested and further investigation revealed subject to be in possession of a fraudulent driver’s license. Subject was processed and released on a summons.


August 10, 2017 7:51 p.m.

A resident from the 700 block of Fairacres Avenue reports being the victim of fraud. Unknown actor(s) gained access to the victim’s personal information and were able to retrieve personal data and records.


August 10, 2017 9:49 p.m.

A resident from the 500 block of Pierson Street reports being the victim of an act of criminal mischief to their vehicle. Unknown actor(s) scratched and damaged the victim’s vehicle.


August 11, 2017 12:05 p.m.

Officers Gill and Kenny responded to North Plainfield Police Department and arrested Edward J Miller, age 49, of Plainfield, NJ, on an outstanding Westfield warrant with bail set at $1,1500. Subject was transported to WPD, processed and committed to Union County Jail pending a Westfield Municipal Court date.


August 11, 2017 9:13 a.m.

Officers Ferry and Gill arrested Brian T Hathaway, age 40, of Westfield, NJ, for an outstanding Westfield Municipal Court warrant subsequent to a motor vehicle stop. Subject was transported to WPD, processed and returned after posting $89 bail.


August 13, 2017 9:52 p.m.

Officers Santangelo and Weiss arrested Joseph Pogel, age 25, of Winchester Way, Westfield, for obstructing the administration of law, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of the 100 block of Winchester Way. Subject was transported to headquarters where he was processed and released with a complaint summons.


August 13, 2017 11:31 p.m.

Officers Bagan and Pollock arrested Harry Daguizan, age 41, of Somerset, NJ, on the strength of an outstanding warrant ($289) pursuant to a motor vehicle stop. Subject was processed and released on recognizance.


August 14, 2017 11:41 p.m.

Officers Natale and Martinez arrested Lionel Brown, age 44, of Elizabeth, NJ, for driving while intoxicated pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of South Avenue near Windsor Avenue. Subject was transported to headquarters, processed and released to a sober adult.


August 14, 2017 2:25 p.m.

Officers Perkins and Saunders arrested Phillip Passett, age 45, of Elizabeth, NJ, on the strength of an active, confirmed Cumberland County Sherriff’s no bail warrant pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of Central Avenue and Virginia Street. Subject was transported to headquarters where he was processed and released after posting $200 as per Cumberland County Court.


August 14, 2017 6:23 p.m.

A resident of Westfield reports that his Dynacraft bicycle, black and white in color, valued at $120, was stolen from the South Side Train Station between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6:20 p.m. on today’s date. It should be noted that the bicycle was secured to the bicycle rack and when the victim returned he saw that the lock has been cut.


August 15, 2017 7:57 p.m.

A tool box was locked in the 1400 block of East Broad Street containing various items. Item was seized and transported to headquarters for safekeeping.


August 16, 2017 12:01 a.m.

Officers Forcenito and Santangelo arrested Dennis Rodriguez, age 39, of Plainfield, NJ, for possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia pursuant to a motor vehicle stop. Subject was transported to headquarters where he was processed and issued a complaint summons. At headquarters it was discovered that he had an active confirmed warrant out of Plainfield Municipal Court in the amount of $1,033. Subject was turned over to Plainfield Police Department in lieu of bail.


August 16, 2017 11 a.m.

Officers Gill and Domanoski arrested Kehrry Bernard, age 24, of Elizabeth, NJ, for an outstanding Union Township warrant subsequent to a motor vehicle stop. Subject was transported to WPD, processed and released after posting $200 bail.
