A resident from Ayliffe Avenue reports being the victim of a fraud. Victim states that unknown actor(s) obtained the victims info and charged $5,000 to the victim.

July 19, 2018 10:10 p.m. Polly Powasnik, age 27, of Cranford, NJ was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant for her arrest from Norwood Municipal Court in the amount of $750 pursuant to a motor vehicle stop. Further investigation revealed the subject had warrants from the following jurisdictions: Cranford Municipal Court $250.00, Roselle Park Municipal Court $250.00. Subject was processed and R.O.R.’d.

July 20, 2018 11:05 a.m.

A resident in the 100 block of Effingham Place reported an act of criminal mischief to their vehicle while it was parked on the street in front of their residence between 11:00 p.m. on 7/19 and 11:00 a.m. on 7/20. The suspect(s) smashed the rear window with an unknown object causing approximately $500.00 damage.

July 22, 2018 1:00 p.m.

A resident of the 300 block of North Scotch Plains Avenue reported that an actor entered their park vehicle and removed their cellular phone from inside the vehicle. The vehicle was parked on the 900 block of Willow Grove at the time of the theft.

July 22, 2018 10:53 a.m.

A resident of the 600 block of Hort Street reported that unknown actor(s) entered their vehicle and stole $10 in U.S. Currency. The vehicle was parked unlocked at the time of the theft.

July 22, 2018 2:34 p.m.

A resident of the 600 block Westfield Avenue reported that they were the victim of fraud. An unknown actor(s) used their credit card without his authorization.

July 22, 2018 10:29 a.m.

A resident of the 500 block of Hort Street reported their 2011 Hyundai Sonato was stolen from the roadway by the residence. The reported value of the vehicle was $12,000. The victim reported a wallet inside the vehicle at the time of the theft. The victim also reported that a separate vehicle belonging to them was burglarized.

July 22, 2018 10:55 a.m.

The resident of the 500 block of Hort Street reported that their 2016 GMC Yukon was stolen from the roadway. During the course of the investigation the vehicle was recovered within the jurisdiction of Westfield. The victim did not report any items were stolen from the vehicle. The vehicle was left unlocked with the keys inside it.

The resident of the 600 block of Hort Street reported unknown actor(s) entered her parked vehicle. The resident reported that no items were taken from the vehicle and the vehicle was left unlocked.

July 22, 2018 1:46 p.m.

The resident of the 600 block of Hort Street reported that unknown actor(s) entered his parked vehicle. The resident reported that a pair of keys, valued at $16, was taken from the vehicle which was left unlocked at the time of the theft.

July 22, 2018 8:40 p.m.

Officers Natale and Gill arrested Joshua Stryer, age 18, of Westfield, NJ for possession of prescription legend drugs, possession of CDS/ marijuana (THC oil) and possession of drug paraphernalia pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of Wells Street and East Broad Street Subject was transported to Headquarters, processed and released on a summons pending a municipal court date.

July 22, 2018 10:04 p.m.

Officer Gill arrested James Stryker, age 53, of Westfield, NJ for an outstanding traffic warrant ($428) out of Bedminster Township Municipal Court pursuant to a responding to Headquarters on a separate matter. Subject was processed and released on posted requisite bail.

July 23, 2018 11:35 p.m. Officer O’Holla and Martinez arrested Dylan Scott, age 20, of South Orange, NJ for possession of fraudulent documentation, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcoholic beverage underage pursuant to a motor vehicle stop at Saint Paul Street and East Broad Street. Subject was transported to Headquarters, processed and released on a summons pending a Union County Superior Court date.

July 23, 2018 2:44 p.m.

A resident of Sandra Circle reported that they were the victim of credit card fraud. The victim reported that an unknown actor(s) unlawfully utilized two (2) separate credit cards that were previously lost.

July 23, 2018 5:29 p.m.

Officers Gill and Weiss arrested Ashley Rouland, age 32, of Plainfield, NJ for two (2) outstanding criminal warrants. One out of Plainfield Municipal Court ($618.00) and the other out of East Brunswick Municipal Court ($452.00 (pursuant to a motor vehicle stop on Sussex Street near East South Avenue. Subject was transported to Headquarters, processed and turned over to Plainfield Police.

July 24, 2018 5:00 p.m.

A business on the 1100 block of West South Avenue reports an incident of bad checks. Management reported that several thousand dollars of merchandise were sold to a company. However, checks issued in compensation were returned as not sufficient funds.
