WESTFIELD, NJ — Expect to see more Westfield police on the road beginning Wednesday courtesy of a federal “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” grant.
According to the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety, summertime and the end-of-year holidays are some of the most deadly times on American roads due to impaired driving.
“We’ll be putting more patrols out focused on locating and arresting people driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Westfield Police Chief David Wayman said during the town council’s conference meeting last week. The extra patrols will be out from Aug. 16 through Sept. 4.
