WESTFIELD, NJ – Westfield Rotary Club Foundation, the non-profit fundraising arm of the town’s 97-year-old Rotary club, will host a Gala Art Exhibition and Auction this Saturday evening, June 9 at the First Congregational Church of Westfield. Proceeds from the event will go to the club’s local initiatives: Project Hunger, community grants and college scholarships.

Marta Alexandre, chairman of the foundation, described the evening: “Rotary is bringing this new event to Westfield as a fun, different and inexpensive way for people to help us to assist the community through service projects and grants. Tickets are just $10 each and include Hors D’oeuvres, wine and cheese, craft beer, dessert and coffee.” Mrs. Alexandre continues, “Our chairman, Joe Mindak, has done an outstanding job of identifying a large selection of artwork in a variety of media that includes something that will satisfy the taste and pocketbook of just about everyone.”

Mindak, who recently joined the club, was previously President of the Rotary Club of Hoboken where he was involved in similar fundraisers. “It’s an enjoyable night led by professional auctioneers," he said. "Attendees can preview the inventory ahead of time when it will be on view for two hours beginning at 6 p.m. The auction starts at 8. The genres include contemporary art, impressionist, seascapes, Americana, Christian and Judaic, Primitive, African American and sports. Celluloid images from the movies are included. Some of the most recognizable featured artists are Chagall, Neiman, Moses, Wyeth, Rockwell, Gorman and many, many more.”
