In June of this year, the Westfield Service League was delighted  to donate a sum of  $10,000 to the Westfield Volunteer Rescue Squad toward the purchase of their new digital radios and receivers. Due to a new FCC mandate requiring police/fire/EMS to switch to digital communications by the end of 2016, the old radios and receivers needed to be replaced. As the Westfield Police Department was transferring over to digital communications  in June of this year, the WVRS needed to update their radios and receivers too. The cost to replace these was nearly $45,000.

The check from the Westfield Service League was presented to Westfield Volunteer Rescue Squad Treasurer Lynn Feldman by WSL President Sheila Gagliano and WSL Donations Committee Co-Chairpersons Michele Williams and Patty Tata.
