The 2019 North American Teams Championship was held in Washing DC during Thanksgiving holiday, Nov. 29 to Dec. 1. New Jersey Table Tennis Club teams NJTTC5 and NJTTC6 won silver and bronze medals in Division 17 and NJTTC1 made to the quarter final in Division 1.
The silver-medal-winning NJTTC5 team consists of Rohit Barua (Franklin Elementary School, Westfield, NJ), Ninaad Hadge (Woodbridge, NJ), Om Srinivasan (Edison, NJ) and Leyang Zeng (Wilson Elementary School, Westfield, NJ).
The bonze-medal-winning NJTTC6 team members are Jeffrey Jiang (Edison Intermediate School, Westfield, NJ), Ryan Lin (Jefferson Elementary School, Westfield, NJ), Yiming Mao (Long Island, NY) and Aaron Yuan (Cranford, NJ).
“This is their first tournament for many young players. They are fearless, committed and, most importantly, focused in the competition. It is exhilarating to see they go this far in the tournament,” said Coach Jack Gao of New Jersey Table Tennis Club.
North American Teams Championship is a USATT sanctioned 4-star event. Players from more than 10 countries compete in this three-day tournament which features a team component in table tennis. More information about the tournament: http://www.joolateams.com/teams.php
