Westfield Superintendent of Schools, Margaret Dolan, was one of three New Jersey school leaders invited to participate in the 2016 Legislative Advocacy Conference in Washington, D. C. this summer. Attending the three-day conference with Dr. Dolan (at left) were Superintendents Judy Rattner of Berkeley Heights (far right) and Matthew Murphy of Ramsey. Pictured with the New Jersey contingency are Melanie Schulz, Director of Government Relations for NJASA (NJ Association of School Administrators) and NJ Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman, whose legislative assistant is 2006 Westfield High School graduate Kevin Block.
Dr. Dolan also had the opportunity to discuss educational objectives with Congressman Leonard Lance, whose legislative district includes Westfield.
“This was an excellent opportunity to meet with our representatives and senators,” stated Dr. Dolan. “During our discussions, I was able to provide perspective from the Westfield School District’s point of view regarding education updates including the federal government’s reauthorization of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).”
