"Growing up as a kid who was never afraid to express themselves and having teachers throughout the years that embraced it, it got me to where I am today,” said Leonard, who attends Union County Vo Tech in Scotch Plains for Commercial Art and Westfield High School as a share-time student. “Certain teachers at WHS, such as Dr. Ruggieri and Mrs. Jarvis, really pushed me out of my comfort zone, taught me a lot and helped me get a better understanding of different mediums.  With the knowledge that they taught me and the exposure that UCTECH has given me, I am grateful for the award of second place in the state of New Jersey.”

Another piece of Leonard’s artwork has been entered into Leonard Lance’s 2017 Congressional Art Contest and will be formally displayed with other entries in a public ceremony on Saturday, May 13, at Merck’s Kenilworth facility, located at 2000 Galloping Hill Road in Kenilworth.
