Firefighters responding to the 6:44 a.m. call to 343 South Avenue East knocked down the blaze within half-an-hour, he said.

Authorities traced the fire to an HVAC unit on the roof and ruled the blaze accidental, Kelly said.

Union County Mutual aid was also called to the scene, Lt. Rick Jurgens, of the Westfield Fire Department, said.

Authorities reopened the roadway by 8:23 a.m., police said.

An employee on the scene said nobody else was injured and the store anticipated reopening later in the day.
