WESTFIELD, NJ — At its last conference meeting, Westfield's town council discussed making a change to the “no overnight parking” rule in parking lot 3, on the south side of the train station. Currently, the ordinance prohibits parking in that lot after 1 a.m. without a permit, even though the last train arrives at 1:50 a.m.
The public safety, transportation and parking committee made the recommendation to the council after a resident brought up the discrepancy.
The change would make lot no. 3 consistent with lots on the North side of the train station downtown, which already allow parking until 2 a.m. It will have to pass two votes by the town council to go into effect.
“This came about because we had a resident contact us,” Councilman Keith Loughlin, chair of the public safety, transportation and parking committee said, “so I encourage residents to continue to contact their respective council members with their suggestions and ideas.”
The next town council meeting will take place Tuesday, Feb. 7. For details, click here.
