WESTFIELD, NJ — The National Weather Service has extended its a flash flood warning for the area until 2:15 p.m. A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.

Several streets in Westfield flooded as debris from previous storms blocked storm drains.

“If you see a storm drain that is not functioning or blocked because of the storm debris, please call the Department of Public Works at 908-789-4040 x 2,” Councilman Mark LoGrippo wrote on Facebook Monday morning. “You can email your councilperson, as well.”

According to the National Weather Service, excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low-lying spots.
