Westfield Under Winter Storm Warning Dec. 14

WESTFIELD, NJ — The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for heavy snow and ice affecting Union County from 6 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, until 6 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 15. Snow accumulation could be four to eight inches, along with up to one quarter inch of ice. The service recommends only traveling in the case of an emergency and taking a flashlight, food and water with you in your vehicle if you must venture out.

Union County is under a “Code Blue” severe weather advisory for homeless people, to guide them to shelter. The county announced Friday that it has 80 to 100 pieces of equipment standing ready to keep its 170 miles of county roadway clear.
