SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Despite a small number of bands participating this year, the annual Marching Band Home Show brought out large crowds at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School Saturday.

Westfield’s Marching Blue Devils were crowned the overall Best Band. Other winning bands were East Brunswick, West Orange and Montgomery.

"This show was different from Home Shows in the past because the students got to watch each other perform and appreciate the performances by their peers," said SP-F marching band director Durand Thomas. "When we had larger numbers, there wasn't time for it."

"Being able to see each other's performances developed a sense of camaraderie that couldn't happen under the previous format," added assistant director John Gillick. "It was a good night."
