CLARK, NJ — The Paul Jackson Fund, a charity of last resort for families facing financial crises due to illness or disability, held its annual charity run Sunday at Oak Ridge Park in Clark.
Despite the overcast skies, “It’s a perfect running day,” Director of Development Mary Doherty said.
This year, for the first time, groups formed teams to run and walk.
“We have a group of students from Westfield High School named ‘Go Blue’ that raised over $2,500,” Doherty said. Other teams were formed by Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Coldwell Banker East #209 Central.
“It’s an opportunity to come together, to bring awareness to the Paul Jackson Fund, to be outdoors and have some fun together. Most importantly, it’s an opportunity to raise money so we can continue the mission,” PJF President Mary Jackson said.
Doherty extended a special thank-you to volunteer DJ Don Dazzo and the head of the race committee, Dave Collum.
“Dave really helped generate sponsors, volunteers and participants,” she said.
Snapple donated all the water and sports drinks and ShopRite of Clark donated food for the event.
